It's a place where many lives were saved. However, before hospitals or treatment centers in the coal mines were built, coal miners didn't have sufficient and timely care, which resulted in many injuries and deaths. A story that stuck out to me was when he mentioned that if a miner had hurt his leg, he'd just be left somewhere out of the way until the end of his workday. Companies didn't allow the injured workers to be sent out of the mine, since that would result in an empty mine cart coming out of the mine, which means less profit. The insatiable greed of these coal companies have caused many deaths, especially through their false sense of promoting safety for their workers. The companies’ complete disregard for safety makes them evil, not the coal or the workers.
