Energy Afterlives

Taaliyat's Cyanotype Scalar Page

My cyanotype speaks to the themes of this course cluster because it sends a message for us to stop a crucial process which is contributing to climate change today and that is, the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels contain coal and oil and are used for many different things but specifically energy. Using fossil fuels, they help provide energy for heat in the homes, electricity, and other things as well. With this course, we talked a lot about oil extraction using different techniques such as fracking. We also talked about the Cretaceous period when oil formed  when plants were buried anoxically in the shallow water. This relates to fossil fuels because they are a type of oil and therefore formed in these conditions which are similar to the conditions which coal formed in.
