Melanie's Cyanotype
This cyanotype is inspired by Warren Cariou lecture at Bryn Mawr, Petrography and Land-relations: Embodying Indigenous Energy Intimacy, where he discussed his journey in petrography. Cariou describing how he realized that nature grows in tar and it does not stop nature from thriving, rather it is the companies destroying the land to get oil changed my perspective. It's very easy to villainize the resources itself compared to holding companies accountable. So I wanted my cyanotype to show that nature is growing and thriving, having flowers overlap with the words, to emulate that same energy of appreciating the resource for itself.
